Out of The Blue - To More Blue

It's being a while since my last post, almost two months or 52 days to be exact.

Right after the last post, "Mocha sectional and other stuff", my imagination/ creativity fell in a deep hole. I was physically, mentally and emotionally drained. It took us 3 months to find a house we like and then it took another 8 months to finally close on it, eight long, exhausting and draining months; tons of phone calls and emails with agents, attorneys, bankers, arguments with DBF, desperation thinking we will never close and just wasted so much time, and so on... Then right after closing day the "lets make this house a home" started.

I have to say that by waiting so long to close in the house we had time to plan, imagine, dream, pick colors, hunt for thrift shop treasures, etc., but by the time the day came, all the excitement came and went.

The weekend after the family room was painted and the sectional came, DBF told me that he was going to go to Lowes right after work to pick a few things and my response was, you know what? Lets take a break, I can't anymore, I am exhausted from all of this, as much as I hate the mess, lets take a week off. His face transformed into relief; he has been wanting to take a break but since I was pushing so hard to get things done, he just went with it.

A week went by and during the weekend we got the big 32" snow storm, it left me feeling blue and with no desire to work on the next project, the living room. The following week we decided to book a vacation. We take two vacations a year, February and September, but since 2012 was all about the house hunting, there was no vacation. We really needed one.

The day before going on vacation I invited my family over to see the progress on the house, DBF  went behind my back and invited his family over, he had a surprise, a big surprise, a fabulous engagement ring.

Now we need to find a new name for fiance since I can not longer call him DBF (Dear Boy Friend)

Then...

On we went to beautiful Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (my home country, yayyy) turquoise beaches, white/ powdery sand and lots of rest and inspiration.

We returned from our vacation almost a month ago and I promise I've been meaning to make a new post, but with an engagement ring came more planning, an engagement party and a wedding. I am an avid DIYselfer, I have been so excited thinking about all the things I want to make, I am not kidding you when I say that my head is all over the place, can even sleep thinking.

Now I am done with the engagement party planning phase, a lot to do still, but everything is falling into place, so I manage to put my thoughts together and update the blog.

We are currently working in the living room, walls all painted, blue! base board done, sofa arrived (but still in the box). We are also working in the entry foyer, more blue... Blue galore.

 spoilers:

Summer Breeze by Valspar -
Yes, that was the state of our LR a week ago

I really love that color, is refreshing to look at, and it looks like a total different color with different lighting
... We can say that we have a different room during the day and night

And more blue in the foyer:

Royal Navy by Valspar
Mountain Pear also by Valspar

Royal Navy, Mountain Pear and Summer Breeze -
The coat closet door will also get paint treatment, white.

Taking a break from all was the best decision, some times we just have to stand back and look at the big picture. Now I have all my thoughts back together, I am not feeling overwhelmed, we are feeling inspired and are looking forward to finishing the current projects.

Now I hope that the "title" on this post would make sense to you.

We will be back soon with a  living room post and a foyer post. Wishing everyone a great weekend and thank you for reading.

Until next time,

Sobe
